Julie Chen to Co-Host New Daytime Talk Show
“CBS Early Show” co-anchor — and Mrs. Les Moonves — Julie Chen will be one of five moms on a new roundtable talk show the network is planning to launch this fall in place of soap opera “As the World Turns.”
NYTimes’ Media Decoder reports, “The other hosts are Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Ms. Gilbert developed the format for the show, and will executive-produce as well as co-host it.”
As we noted, word of a May pilot surfaced in the spring for a program that would send Chen into CBS daytime. Chen has popped up infrequently on the morning show in 2010, though she recently made a number of appearances for the program from Los Angeles, which is where the new show will be based. Though Chen will officially no longer be an “Early Show” co-host, it’s likely we’ll continue to see her make limited appearances.
