Kaplan To CBS: Does Anyone Really Believe That Couric Wasn’t Consulted?

“COURIC NOT CONSULTED…” is the headline on Drudge But an e-mailer wonders: “Does anyone really believe Katie had no idea that Rick Kaplan was being hired?”

That’s what today’s New York Times says. Sean McManus apparently contacted Rick Kaplan last week. “According to both men, Ms. Couric was not brought into the conversations until Wednesday, after Mr. Kaplan had accepted the job. Ms. Couric would not comment on Mr. Kaplan’s arrival. Colleagues of both described their previous relationship as strong and friendly, though they have not worked together.”
