On Monday, the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric goes HD.
“The entire CBS Evening News team is excited that viewers can now watch our award-winning broadcast in HiDef,” said executive producer Rick Kaplan in a press release. The HD broadcast will originate from a new multimillion-dollar control room, which broke ground a year and a half ago and includes new graphics and conference rooms. TVNewser got a sneak peek in May as construction continued.
60 Minutes is expected to go HD in September and all of CBS News’ broadcasts will be HD by the end of 2009.
