Katie Couric’s Big Apple Ratings
Katie Couric will be honored with the Governor’s Award for lifetime achievement at this Sunday’s local Emmy Awards ceremony.
As we first reported last month, Couric is consistently coming in second in the New York market, beating NBC Nightly News. Couric tells the NYPost, “It’s all due to the staff, the correspondents and producer Rick Kaplan. It takes a while for anything to click and for people to get used to me.”
For the past six months, CBS Evening News has topped NBC Nightly News in household ratings and the A25-54 demo. Also, season-to-date, CBS EN is the only evening newscast up from last year in the New York market.
World News with Charles Gibson is far and away #1 in New York, thanks in part to a very strong affiliate lead-in from WABC-TV. World News regularly beats Evening News and Nightly News combined in New York.
