Katie Couric’s Surprise Visit

The Washington Post’s The Reliable Source reports that student journalists at the University of Virginia’s The Cavalier Daily newspaper got quite a surprise yesterday when Katie Couric stopped by to say hello.

Couric, a Daily alum who graduated from UVA in 1979, was on campus as she helps daughter Ellie, a high school junior, check out prospective colleges. According to The Reliable Source, Ellie wants to be a journalist.

The column also says that Katie Couric “asked for a copy of the latest issue [of the Daily] and marveled that so much of the staff is female.”
