PBS Documentarian and Baseball Nerd Ken Burns Catches a Foul Ball at Red Sox-Orioles Game

How is this for random? PBS documentary filmmaker Ken Burns caught a foul ball at the Red Sox-Orioles game last night.

Sure, people catch foul balls every game. But how many of those people directed the authoritative documentary series about the history of the game of baseball?

Making the matter even weirder: Burns has a follow-up to his classic 1994 PBS series called “Baseball: The 10th Inning” which will premiere September 28… exactly one week after he caught the ball.

Some people might say the catch was rigged in order to promote the new “Baseball” special. Those people would be idiots. If ever there was a game where strange but fun coincidences happen on a regular basis, it would be baseball.

MLB.com has video of the catch here.
