Letterman #1 Last Week, ‘Nightline’ #2

nightline.jpgAfter Bill Clinton and Barack Obama helped boost CBS’ “Late Show” ratings the week prior, David Letterman‘s program saw its audience average decrease 880K (330K in the A25-54 demo) week-to-week, though it still came in first. ABC’s “Nightline,” which had a big week of its own two weeks ago, saw its average drop week-to-week (by a smaller margin), but maintained its position ahead of NBC’s “Tonight Show” in Total Viewers and A25-54.

Thursday evening, David Letterman revealed on his show that he had been the victim of an extortion plot. That episode drew roughly 5.8M viewers.

The numbers for the week of Sept 28:

Show Network A25-54 Total Viewers
Late Show CBS 1.69M 4.42M
Nightline ABC 1.68M 3.97M
Tonight Show NBC 1.50M 2.67M
