Liberal Groups Pressure FNC Advertisers

The AP’s David Bauder writes about how liberal groups are going after Fox News Channel where it hurts: by targeting their sponsors. Brave New Films, a company that has produced anti-Fox videos is behind the effort. Bauder writes, “the groups have successfully pressured Democratic presidential candidates not to appear at any debate” airing on Fox.

The film company claims 5,000 people have signed up to compile logs of who is adverstising on Fox. The question now: will the advertisers listen? TVWeek’s Michelle Greppi recently wrote about earnings at the cable news channels. Fox News is projected to bring in $506.7 million in ad revenues in 2007. “CNN is forecast to take in $466.8 million and MSNBC may take in $156.1 million.”

>Update: Ad Age writes that “MoveOn has been pitching this story for weeks” and the AP finally bit (and TVNewser too).
