Mardi Gras: MSNBC Sitting This One Out?

A New Orleans native writes to TVNewser:

“I’ve been taking shots at MSNBC [on my blog] because it seems to me as if they’ve largely forgotten about New Orleans, or just don’t care…They need to get off their fixation on conspiracies and celebrities, get off their asses and get down there, to show us the same French Quarter-vs.-Ninth Ward contrast that everyone else will be showing. They’re going to look pretty stupid if they’re the only broadcast or cable news network that doesn’t have anyone there.”

Unfortunately, the network seems to be sitting this one out. Not one anchor from MSNBC is traveling to the Gulf Coast for Mardi Gras or the six month anniversary of Katrina — not one. Donna Gregory is on live report duty for the network, according to an NBC rep, but that’s it. It’s disappointing, to say the least.
