Mark Cuban Could Buy the Mets

Is Mark Cuban about to get a shiny new toy?

According to the New York Post, the Dallas Mavericks owner would consider purchasing part of the New York Mets.

“If they want to sit down and sell me on it, I can be a willing buyer and a willing customer,” he said. “But I’m not going to be a bidder on anything.”

Cuban is 0 for 2 in previous attempts to buy a baseball team. He placed a bid for the Texas Rangers last year, but lost to a group the included Nolan Ryan and also looked into purchasing the Chicago Cubs in 2007.

As with most Cuban-related ventures, he’s taking a go big or go home attitude when it comes to the Mets.

“You take a small part of something that makes a ton of money, if the price is right, no matter who you are. But I don’t know the specifics of it, so I couldn’t say,” he said. “I can tell you from my perspective, it’d be very unlikely that I’d choose to participate if they came to me for a minority stake unless there was a right to buy it in the event of that opportunity.”
