Mass Shooting in Orlando

HLN_11.6.jpgAt 12:33pmET, the Twitter feed @BreakingNews, which is attached to the BNONews site, reported on a mass shooting this morning at an Orlando office building.

HLN and CNN reported the news, with choppers/information from all three affiliates, WFTV, WESH and WKMG, at 12:35pm. MSNBC, using NBC affiliate WESH-TV’s chopper, broke in at 12:36 and Fox News reported the story at 12:37.

The latest news is that 8 people have been shot and the shooter is not in custody.

• In what may be the cheesiest local news tagline, WESH-TV would like you to know they have BIG COVERAGE OF THE BIG STORY.

• FNC’s coverage is hampered by their O&O WOFL which apparently does not have a chopper, and is relying on traffic cameras.

• One of the first reports from Orlando on CNN came from, not a correspondent, or reporter, but one CNN’s All Platform Journalists, as they’re known.

> Update 2:23pmET: The gunman, Jason Rodriguez, is under arrest. One person has been killed, five others wounded.

> More: Local Orlando news stations caught up with Rodriguez as he was taken into custody. “They left me to rot,” he says.
