Media Doing Good: Wal-Mart Drops Lawsuit

kaye_4-2.jpgThe cable news coverage of a lawsuit filed by Wal-Mart against one of their own former employees may have led the company to drop the suit. Wal-mart, the $378 billion retailer had sued Debbie Shank for $470,000 to recover the cost of medical bills after she won a settlement with the trucking company that hit her.

Last Tuesday, CNN’s Randi Kaye highlighted the lawsuit on AC360. Wal-Mart was then named to Keith Olbermann‘s “Worst Person” segment four days in a row.

Yesterday, Wal-Mart dropped the suit. Debbie Shank’s husband, Jim Shank, sent an email to Kaye, writing, “I want to thank the Lord Jesus and I want to thank you and 360 for all you’ve done…You broke the story for us.”

Jim Shank will also be a guest on MSNBC’s Countdown tomorrow night.
