Miami Herald Hosting LeBron James Poetry Contest

As much as we poked fun at ESPN.com and The Heat Index, The Miami Herald has hit a new low in terms of catering to LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The newspaper is holding a LeBron James Poetry Contest.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Because we know Heat fans have spent all summer coming up with their best haiku to commemorate James taking his talents to South Beach.

Below are the rules of the contest:

  • Poem must commemorate the arrival of LeBron James to Miami.
  • The poem can utilize any poetic form (haiku, rhyming couplets, limerick, free verse, etc.) but it cannot exceed six lines (LeBron’s jersey is #6).
  • No limit to the number of poems you can submit. Only one poem per submission.

Act fast because you only have until Friday to enter. The winner will have their poem read on WLRN 91.3FM and receive two complimentary tickets to a Heat game.

Personally, we’re waiting for the Zydrunas Ilgauskas poetry contest. Sign us up for that one.
