Midnight Dealings, and FBN’s First Simulcast

Just after 12:20ET last night, members of the Congressional leadership issued a live announcement regarding a tentative deal in the bailout discussions after negotiations lasted into early Sunday. CNN and MSNBC took the briefing live, with CNN’s live coverage of the plan lasting into the 1amET hour. In an unprecedented move, FBN went live and was simulcast on Fox News during the announcement and while Peter Barnes anchored post-briefing analysis. Bloomberg employed a lower third banner announcing the tentative deal. CNBC stayed in taped programming.
