“Inside the studio, anchor Brit Hume and a panel of experts were spookily calm and composed as election returns increasingly indicated that Democrats were winning big.

Only once did Hume indicate any frustration with the proceedings and that was in the early goings of what would be six hours in the anchor chair.

‘Can we put up some numbers?’ he asked during a commercial break. ‘CNN is just eating our lunch here.’
