MSNBC Apparently Worth $1 Billion

Following up on yesterday’s analysis of Microsoft’s Q-10, today’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer includes this:

“Microsoft says it received $331 million when it sold a 32 percent stake in the MSNBC cable-television news channel to NBC Universal last month. NBC, a unit of General Electric Co., also gained the right to buy over the next two years the 18 percent of MSNBC it doesn’t already own. The disclosures, reported by Bloomberg News, were made in a filing Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The sale values MSNBC at about $1 billion and portends the end of what was Microsoft’s biggest foray into television.”
