MSNBC At 10: “Some People Think It’s [An] Impossible Job,” Ex-Prez Sorenson Says

“The challenge hasn’t changed in 10 years — to clarify why MSNBC is an alternative to CNN,” Erik Sorenson, MSNBC’s general manager from 1998 to 2004, tells the AP in a story hitting the wires on Monday. “Fox has succeeded in doing that; they have a clear identity and purpose.. MSNBC has continued to struggle to identify itself. It was an issue during the time I was there and it continues to be an issue.”

He said he doesn’t envy Dan Abrams. “Let’s put it this way: It’s a very hard — some people think it’s impossible — job. I know it’s something he’s enthralled with and excited about. I hope they succeed. I’m rooting for them vigorously.”
