MSNBC Rolls Out the Green Machine

GreenMachine_4.22.jpgFNC has a new road rival for its Election Link vehicle. This morning MSNBC debuted the Green Machine, with NBC’s Kevin Corke in the passenger seat, covering the PA primary.

The Ford Escape hybrid has the now-typical dashboard cameras with one focused on the correspondent and a second looking out onto the road. The Green Machine uses web technology instead of standard video, the newsgathering camera uses re-useable media cards instead of tape, and the truck can travel 4 to 6 hours between charges. Corke told viewers the Green Machine also leaves a less impressionable carbon footprint. “This particular vehicle runs on about 20 amps compared to 60 amps” of a typical live truck.
