MSNBC Sets Hourly Convention Anchors

brokaw_8-21.JPGTom Brokaw will be among the six daytime anchors responsible for an hour at both the Democratic and Republican conventions.

Others include Andrea Mitchell, Brian Williams and Norah O’Donnell (making her return).

Chuck Todd will be responsible for the NoonET hour, while Dan Abrams anchors the hour prior. Abrams’ replacement at 9pmET after the conventions, Rachel Maddow, assumes her political coverage position on the panel during prime time coverage.

Also of note: Keith Olbermann anchors a, “one-minute convention roadbloack,” to air on all NBC Universal properties (NBC, CNBC, Bravo, SciFi, Oxygen and USA Network), each night of the convention.

MSNBC will telecast 20 hours a day of live coverage from the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo., Aug. 25-29, and the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., Sept. 1-4.

As part of MSNBC’s convention coverage, the networks of NBC Universal will telecast a one-minute convention roadblock, anchored by Keith Olbermann, with an update on the day’s happenings and a preview of the upcoming coverage on MSNBC and NBC. The roadblock will air on NBC, CNBC, Bravo, SciFi, Oxygen and USA Network each night of both the DNC and RNC.

MSNBC’s convention coverage begins at 6 a.m. ET with “Morning Joe” from both Denver and St. Paul. “Morning Joe” will telecast live from Sam’s No. 3 Grill & Bar in Denver, and from Keys Cafe in St. Paul, 6 a.m.-11a.m. ET. Olbermann and Chris Matthews anchor MSNBC primetime coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET, with coverage continuing until 2 a.m. ET. MSNBC dayside and primetime will telecast live from dynamic outdoor sets in both convention cities, outside Union Station in Denver and from Rice Park in St. Paul, with fans, visitors and supporters of all candidates encouraged to visit the set, and prizes and giveaways for fans in attendance.

MSNBC’s evening coverage begins with “Hardball with Chris Matthews” at 5 p.m. ET, followed by “Race for the White House with David Gregory” at 6 p.m. ET, both live on-site in Denver and St. Paul. Gregory will also report live from the convention floor in Denver and St. Paul for both MSNBC and NBC News.

Live convention coverage, anchored by Olbermann and Chris Matthews, begins at 7 p.m. ET. MSNBC’s coverage will continue live until 2 a.m. ET. Norah O’Donnell leads MSNBC’s panel, including MSNBC political analysts Rachel Maddow, Pat Buchanan, and Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post; Mike Murphy and Harold Ford Jr. will also provide analysis.
