MSNBC's Busy Political Night

MSNBC announced today in a press release how it plans to handle hosting a debate and covering the Michigan primary tomorrow night. The debate will take place at 9pmET.

Chris Matthews will be live with Hardball in Las Vegas at 5 and 7pmET, while Tucker Carlson will host Tucker and Keith Olbermann will host Countdown at their regular times, 6pmET and 8pmET. Following the two hour debate (which will only feature the three leading Democratic candidates), Matthews and Olbermann will anchor Michigan primary coverage from 11pmET-1amET.

NBC News’ Brian Williams to Moderate Debate, Joined by Tim Russert


NEW YORK – Jan. 14, 2008 – MSNBC presents special live coverage tomorrow night of the Michigan primary, as well as the Democratic presidential debate live from Nevada. Coverage begins with "Hardball with Chris Matthews" live from Las Vegas at 5 and 7 p.m. ET, "Tucker" live at 6 p.m. ET and "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" at 8 p.m. ET.

"NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams will moderate a debate among the Democratic presidential candidates tomorrow, 9-11 p.m. ET, live on MSNBC from the Cashman Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Sen. John Edwards will participate. The debate is the first among the Democratic presidential candidates to follow the pivotal New Hampshire primary, and comes just four days before the Nevada caucus on Jan. 19.

Tim Russert, moderator of "Meet the Press" and NBC News Washington Bureau Chief, will join Williams in questioning the candidates. "Today's" Natalie Morales will also join Russert and Williams; Morales will ask the candidates questions submitted by viewers via www.msnbc.com and www.januarydebate.com. The debate will also be streamed live at msnbc.com.

Following the debate Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann will anchor live coverage, 11 p.m.-1 a.m., with debate analysis and primary returns from Michigan.
