MSNBC's Prime Change: Tucker Carlson Moves From Late Night To Late Afternoon

Beginning July 10, Tucker Carlson is taking Dan Abrams' place at 4 and 6pm on MSNBC. Instead of serving as a nightcap to the network's primetime lineup, The Situation will "jump-start" it. In a memo to staff, Dan Abrams says "expect to see a number of new segments which will help better brand the show in the mold of... well... Tucker Carlson. The goal... to have him to do a better show than I did!"

When Carlson's show premiered last June, it aired at 9pm. Six weeks later, when Rita Cosby came aboard, she took the 9pm slot and Carlson moved to 11. At the time, Carlson said he loved the late-night time slot: "This is what I've wanted to do for a long time," he said, calling it "a huge move, from my perspective, on MSNBC's part."
