MSNBC (and CNBC) was the first network to report that Fred Thompson had pulled out of the presidential race. MSNBC reported the news at 2:22pmET. Contessa Brewer said MSNBC was alerted by the Thompson campaign regarding an upcoming press conference. CNN reported at 2:25pmET that the Associated Press is reporting that Thompson had dropped out. Fox News has not yet reported the news.
