Just like his old boss former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney is giving NBC News the first interview tied to the release of his memoir. Cheney will be interviewed by Jamie Gangel on a special edition of “Dateline,” Monday, August 29 at 10 PM ET, and then will be interviewed live by Matt Lauer the next morning on “Today.”
His memoir, In My Time, will be released August 30.
Cheney has been quieter than many of his colleagues since leaving the West Wing, though he has made appearances on all of the broadcast networks, as well as CNN and Fox News since leaving office, including a handful of interviews earlier this year following his heart surgery.
The decision to give the first memoir interview to NBC was likely due to the fact that he would be able to reach the most people. An hour in primetime is very valuable real estate, and NBC’s “Today” is easily the most-watched morning news program on television.
