NBC Universal “Still Considering A Counter-Bid For Dow Jones” (Without Microsoft)

“General Electric’s NBC Universal is still considering a counter-bid for Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, after discussions about a joint bid with Microsoft broke down last month,” The Times of London says.

In a statement today, GE said: “NBC Universal has a successful history of strategic acquisitions and as standard practice is always evaluating opportunities. It’s simply good business.”

This morning The New York Times and Wall Street Journal reported that GE had considered a joint bid with Microsoft, “but the two sides couldn’t reach an agreement…”
