NBC Settles $105M Predator Suit
Patricia Conradt sued NBC last July claiming the network interfered with police duties and then failed to protect her brother's safety. Her brother, Louis William Conradt, Jr. shot himself in November 2006 when officers showed up at his house as part of a 'To Catch a Predator' sting arranged by Dateline. This story took on a new twist when the ABC affiliate in Dallas, and later ABC's 20/20, produced stories detailing problems with NBC's reporting. The WFAA reports received an A.I. duPont-Columbia journalism award, while the 20/20 story was nominated for, but did not win, a Mirror Award just this week. Gold writes, "Both sides declined to comment about when they came to agreement or the terms of the resolution. A sealed document regarding the suit was filed with the court June 3, but the case remains open, according to a spokesman for the New York Southern District Court." Email This Post |
