NBCU Puts Two Stations Up For Sale

NBCLogo_3.19.pngBreaking: NBC is putting two of its stations, WTVJ in Miami (market 16) and WVIT in Hartford (market 28), up for sale. The NBCU local media division sent a note to staffers about the sale and insiders tell us meetings are being held at the stations today.

NBCU local media plans to concentrate on the nation’s Top 10 markets. It currently owns stations in seven of the top 10: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Jose/San Francisco, Dallas and Washington, DC. NBC also owns KNSD in San Diego (market 27), which it plans to keep. In 2006, NBC sold off stations in even smaller markets including Columbus, OH, Birmingham, AL and Raleigh, NC.

The division recently purchased LX.TV and Skycastle Entertainment to add to its digital portfolio.
