NFL Ratings Continue to Score
What do you get when you combine good teams, big markets, and late drama? Another win for networks broadcasting the NFL.
Both NBC’s Sunday Night Football featuring the Philadelphia Eagles against the New York Giants and CBS’ Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots game saw ratings jump more than 10 percent from 2009.
The nighttime match up earned the Peacock a 15.9/24 overnight rating, an increase of 31 percent over last year’s Week 11 game (Eagles-Bears, 12.1/19), while the afternoon tilt scored a 16.7/30, “up 12 percent from last year’s 14.9/28 in the metered markets.” (On the year, CBS is averaging 12.8/25, up 10 percent from 2009.)
The Eagles-Giants fixture was the fourth-highest SNF telecast ever, trailing two from earlier this season and the all-time winner, last year’s Giants-Dallas Cowboys game that opened Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
