Nguyen Sneaks In, Reports From, Myanmar
CNN anchor Betty Nguyen had been off the air for almost a week, and on Saturday it was revealed why. She and a crew had been secretly filming in Myanmar, and she gave her first report on the devastation after the cyclone, and the military’s stronghold on coverage.
Reporting from just outside the border in Bangkok, Thailand, she gave her report via broadband.
To get the report, she and her CNN crew had to bypass military checkpoints by entering the Irrawaddy Delta area, “under the cover of darkness.”
Nguyen called the trip, “one of the most difficult assignments that I’ve ever taken.”
