NPR Cancels Bryant Park Project

AStewart_7.13.jpgThe NYTimes’ Elizabeth Jensen reports Bryant Park Project, a National Public Radio morning broadcast hosted by former MSNBC/NBC anchor Alison Stewart is being canceled. The last broadcast is expected to be July 25. Stewart, who is on maternity leave, tells the Times she was recently informed of the news. “From what I understand, we are obviously in extra-tough economic times, and it is a financial and strategic decision,” she said. “I was told it had absolutely nothing to do with the quality or content of the show.”

Stewart will return from maternity leave as planned on July 21 for the show’s last week. After that, Jensen reports, she is not sure what she will do, although she said that NPR had “expressed strong interest” in having her stay.
