Moonves: We're Closer, But Probably Not Close To Unveiling New Evening News
Les Moonves continues to be evasive about the future of the CBS Evening News, Gail Shister writes today.
"Are we any closer? Yes. Are we close? Probably not," Moonves said in LA on Wednesday. "We're trying things...We've done some news pilots. I've seen segments I like, but I haven't put them together."
More: "Is an anchor important? Is it important to have an anchor in Washington? Is it important to have anchors all over the country? Those are all the questions we're asking."
Moonves says a multianchor format is "probable:" "It won't be one guy like it is with Brian Williams or was with Peter Jennings] or Dan. My guess is it won't look like that or feel like that."
