Congratulations to LATimes media reporter Matea Gold and her husband Jonathan on their arrival of their first child. Matea gave birth to Sophia Eleanor Lenzner last Saturday. 7-pound, 4-ounce Sophia arrived a week early, thwarting her mother’s efforts to make one last deadline.

Gold tells us she finished and filed two features after her water broke, but another long-term story will have to wait a bit longer.

Gold is expected back on the beat in July.
