PBS Leads The Way with 22 Emmy Noms

Nominations for the 28th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards were announced this morning. Docu-heavy PBS leads all broadcasters with 22 nominations. CBS grabbed 19, ABC has 15, and NBC picks up 14.

As for the cablers: CNN has six nominations. Discovery communications (including Discovery, DiscoveryHD and Animal Planet) picked up 10 noms. And Court TV (soon to be truTV) has one nomination.

From the press release: “This year’s entries were particularly impressive – both in quality and breath of reporting,” said Peter Price, NATAS President & CEO.

Interestingly, “Dan Rather Reports” on HDNet picked up a nomination for a report titled “Coming Home.”

Winners will be announced September 24.
