“Ping-Pong Battle” Between NBC & ABC

“The two leading network evening newscasts — World News With Charles Gibson on ABC and NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams — could each lay claim to a ratings title last week, as they did a week earlier,” the NY Times notes. ABC had 320,000 more viewers than NBC, and around two million more than CBS.

“Among target 25-to-54-year-old viewers, however, NBC beat ABC by more than 100,000 viewers for its 22d victory in that category in 26 weeks,” the Inquirer adds, calling it “a real ping-pong battle…”
