Pope Speech — Network Choices

As President George W. Bush, and then Pope Benedict XVI, delivered a speech this morning outside the White House in front of a crowd of thousands, it was obvious the cablers would be covering it wall-to-wall. But when it came to network decisions, ABC and CBS News held special reports while NBC did not. FOX took the Fox News feed. Diane Sawyer anchored on ABC and Katie Couric anchored on CBS.

An NBC spokesperson tells TVNewser, “NBC News, which has extensive plans for coverage of the pope’s visit across our many platforms, made an editorial decision to put live coverage this morning on MSNBC. We did update the Today show on the west coast as well.”
