Professional Bowlers Association Returning To ABC

Are you ready for some … bowling?

For the first time since 1997, the Professional Bowlers Association will air on ABC.

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour and ESPN reached a three-year extension, which includes airing their $1 million PBA Tournament of Champions from Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas on Jan. 22, live on ABC.

“This is a milestone accomplishment for the PBA and for America’s millions of bowling fans,” said Fred Schreyer, PBA Tour Commissioner and CEO in a statement. “It’s the result of a great deal of hard work and support by the PBA ownership, sponsors, players and broadcast partner ESPN. This is exciting news for the entire sport.”

The new deal, which runs through 2013, includes more than 20 telecasts per year on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. The PBA’s telecast schedule begins Nov. 28 with the first event of the PBA World Series of Bowling on ESPN.

As a teen, bowling on ABC meant that it was time to turn off the television and go outside for some fresh air.

Even as an adult, this still applies.
