Randy Meier Leaves MSNBC

meierjune20.jpgMSNBC has declined to renew morning anchor Randy Meier‘s contract. Here’s his e-mail to colleagues: “It has been a tremendous three years. For me those three years are coming to an end. MSNBC has chosen not to renew my contract; as a result, my last day will be this Friday. I will cherish ALL the great stories we’ve been able to cover together. You are the most dedicated and hard working group of journalists I have ever known. I wish great things for MSNBC and know that you’ll all be a part of that.”

> June 14, 2004: Meier moves his family back to Minnesota…

> Meier joined MSNBC in August 2003…

> Update: 6:04pm: “This means MSNBC is the only cable news channel without a male news anchor for its M-Fr daytime broadcasts…for now,” ICN says…
