Remembering Peter: What Peter Would Do

What would Peter do? Tom Nagorski pointed to his blue wristband, then answered the question several times in his reflection.

“Peter was in many ways a conductor,” Nagorski said. He praised the anchor’s journalistic traits: “His stamina. His tenacity. His encyclopedic knowledge of both the story and the history. His unquenchable desire to know more.”

Nagorski’s daughter had sent a get-well card to Peter in April. Nagorski asked “what would Peter do?,” and answered: “He would always find the time to write a note like this.” Then he pulled it out of his pocket and took a deep breath.

“That was a wonderful, wonderful letter,” Peter wrote. Nagorski pauses.

“The colors really cheered me up.” He chokes up.

“Whenever an adult is sick, there is nothing better than a person’s kindness to make them feel better.” Tears.
