Remembering Russert: Factor Tribute

FNC anchor Bill O’Reilly paid tribute to Tim Russert last night on The O’Reilly Factor (he was off on Friday when the news broke). Besides playing clips from Russert’s appearances on The Factor, O’Reilly gave his thoughts in a “Reality Check” segment.

“I was on his program a couple times and he treated me fairly,” O’Reilly said. “Like me, Tim Russert was a Catholic. My prayers go out to him and his family.”

He also gave Russert one of the ultimate compliments. “He along with Mike Wallace were the best TV interviewers I ever saw,” said O’Reilly.

Wallace, still recovering from triple bypass surgery, gave his thoughts about Russert on just one program, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren on Friday night (by phone). “He was simply the best,” said Wallace. “He was a great man, a great journalist, a good friend, interesting, interested in you. He had all of the qualities of a good reporter, and I was stunned this morning.”
