ABC “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts will begin her medical leave to treat her MDS next week, she announced on the program this morning. Roberts will be off starting Monday, September 3, and will begin treatment Tuesday, September 4. Roberts may not be present next week, but “GMA” will definitely feel her presence. From ABC:

All week the program will celebrate Robin plus provide extensive reporting on her treatment, procedure and recovery process. Roberts’ doctor will be also be interviews (sic) on how she is preparing for the bone marrow transplant, and explain what she can expect in the coming months. Additionally, the show will feature uplifting and powerful stories about families who have faced and overcome an MDS diagnosis.
