Al Roker reports for “A Father’s Promise,” an MSNBC documentary premiering Sunday at 8pmET.
The special, which coincides with Black History Month, looks at why so many fathers fall out of their children’s lives, especially in the inner city.
Within the documentary, NBC News catches up with a story originally reported 12 years ago, in which the network profiled several babies born in Newark, New Jersey. Also featured will be a round-table discussion of the situations and issues presented in the documentary from a cross-section of African Americans. Those include Roker, Tiki Barber and Newark Mayor Cory Booker (pictured).
