RTCA Dinner: Williams, Gould, Gregory Become Impromptu Stars In Improv Show

“I think, from watching the RTCA Dinner on CSPAN2, that a couple of high-profile NBC News men have missed their calling. Brian Williams looked as though he could move into some stand up comedy while David Gregory clearly missed his calling as a back-up dancer,” an e-mailer remarks this morning.

For Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood‘s first act, “they recruited NBC anchor Williams and Cheryl Gould, senior vice president of NBC News, to deliver the sound effects for a nonsensical skit about a hunter and a lawyer — one that culminated with the two volunteers burping ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ to the incredulous delight of their colleagues,” the Los Angeles Times describes.

Then Karl Rove came up, and “NBC White House correspondent David Gregory served as a back-up dancer. The room shook with astounded laughter….”
