Saddam: Broadcast Nets Will Break In

An e-mailer asks: “What are the network plans when Saddam is executed? Will any break in?”

Yes. At noon, CBS affiliates were told to expect a special report: “Please be advised that CBS News is on stand-by to go on the air once we get word that Saddam Hussein has been executed.”

Similarly, NBC affiliates have been told that “NBC News will provide a special report when it receives confirmation” of the execution.

The message also said: “We will use care and caution in airing whatever video becomes available and will make a final decision about which images to use only after we have seen them.”

Update: 8:23pm: ABC News also plans to air a special report upon confirmation that Saddam Hussein has been executed…
