Sam Singal named EP of Weekend ‘Nightly News’

After naming a new EP for Weekend “Today” earlier today, NBC News has also just named a new leader for Weekend “Nightly News.”

He’s Sam Singal, a 13-year veteran of the network. Most recently, Singal served as senior broadcast producer of the show. In his new role, Singal will oversee all aspects of the weekend broadcasts, working closely with anchor Lester Holt. Singal joined NBC News — from ABC News — in April 1998 as an assistant producer on “Dateline.” He moved to “Nightly News” in September 2002 as an associate producer.
