Scooter Libby Trial: Cheney’s Aides Were “Paying Attention To Hardball”

MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews was mentioned at the Scooter Libby trial yesterday.

“I recall the vice president telling me to keep track of this story, and keep track of the commentators who were continuing to write on this story and talk about us,” media aide Cathie Martin testified yesterday, per the LAT. “We were paying attention to Hardball with Chris Matthews because he had been talking about it a lot.”

David Shuster reported about the Hardball mention last night. “Martin said that the vice president’s office was so focused on this, and so obsessed with the reporting on Hardball, that she in fact had her staff essentially make clips of Hardball and transcripts, and would deliver those transcripts to the vice president and to Scooter Libby,” Shuster said.
