Mike Schneider interviews 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl on Bloomberg TV’s “Night Talk” tonight at 10pmET.

According to an advance transcript of the interview, Stahl opens up about the Dan Rather/CBS lawsuit:

It’s just killing all of us, it’s killing us to watch this played out. I wish Dan hadn’t taken this step. I don’t know; it’s like shooting your child or something. He was CBS. It’s sad, it’s awful, it’s terrible.

I think that she came in, I mean just horrible circumstances, too much hype. No one could ever be as good as that much hype in a million-trillion years. They tried something new. They tried kind of softening and bringing in a little of the ‘Today Show’ in, maybe bringing a little of ’60 Minutes’ in, and at 6:30 at night, it wasn’t what the audience wanted and they at some point just reverted to the old way and the old format. Now the shows terrific…its found its voice, its found its way of telling stories and its stuck to a very hard format. In many ways, it’s a more old fashioned hard news story than even the competition.
