Sunday Show Ratings: September 1

On the heels of President Obama’s announcement that he would seek Congressional authorization for a military strike in Syria, all five Sunday public affairs shows were up for the week in total viewers. After coming in third last week, “Meet the Press” reclaimed the top spot, besting the competition in both ratings measurements.

ABC’s “This Week” was second in total viewers and third in the demo, and CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which remained unavailable on Time Warner Cable, was second in the demo and third in total viewers. “Fox News Sunday” was fourth and Univision’s “Al Punto” was fifth.

Compared to the same week last year, NBC (+7% / +19%), CBS (+17% / +22%) and Univision (+5% / +1%) were up in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic. Fox was up +3% in total viewers and down -5% in the demo, and ABC was down -1% in both measurements.

Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 3,076,000 Total Viewers and 612,000 A25-54 viewers. Cable rebroadcasts of “Meet the Press” delivered an additional 980,000 total viewers and 485,000 A25-54 viewers.

The second half-hour of “Face the Nation” was preempted this week for CBS’ coverage of the U.S. Open.
