A split decision on September 8 as the leaderboard shifts again for the Sunday public affairs shows. CBS’ “Face the Nation” won in total viewers, and ABC’s “This Week” was first in the A25-54 demographic.
NBC’s “Meet the Press,” which was number one last week, was third in both ratings measurements. “Fox News Sunday” and Univision’s “Al Punto” traded off for fourth and fifth.
Compared to the same day last year, only CBS (+14% in total viewers / +16% in the A25-54 demographic) and ABC (+2% / +6%) are up in both ratings measurements. Univision is up +10% in total viewers but down -4% in the demo, while NBC (-15% / -29%) and Fox (-17% / -28%) are down across the board.
Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday,” which was preempted on much of the West Coast due to Fox’s NFL pregame coverage, averaged a combined 1,823,000 total viewers and 313,000 A25-54 viewers. Cable rebroadcasts of “Meet the Press” delivered an additional 1,415,000 total viewers and 734,000 A25-54 viewers.
“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 49% of the country.
