Who Did Savannah Guthrie Like Working With More: Ann Curry or Meredith Vieira?

Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer went on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” tonight, because … well, just because. Host Andy Cohen, a former morning show producer himself, didn’t go easy on his 30 Rock colleagues, peppering both with questions about lush co-hosts, awful guests and embarrassing moments. WATCH:

After the show, the “Today” co-anchors stuck around for a bit and Andy pressed Matt about the time he got stood up by Madonna.

Thomas Roberts Weighs in on Andy Cohen’s Decision to Drop Out of Miss Universe Pageant

Thomas RobertsMSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts talks to The Advocate about his decision to host the Miss Universe pageant in Russia. Roberts was offered the job after Bravo’s Andy Cohen dropped out. The Advocate asks Roberts if Cohen made the wrong decision:

No, I don’t think he made the wrong call, but in doing my own research on this, I was told that he wasn’t officially given the job — he decided to boycott before getting the official offer. So I don’t think he made the wrong call. From what I’ve read, I don’t know if it was his call to make. He decided to boycott before he had the offer. So, for me, this was something I thought was too great of an opportunity to miss out on. And I think Andy’s great. I think he’s done a great job before. But I appreciate that I know I can bring something else to this and be able to push the envelope a little bit further with being able to report for our networks.

Roberts says he hopes people will “have faith” in him: “I feel real strongly that I’ve always tried to be, not a perfect example, but a good example, of someone who can have a wonderful professional and personal life, and trying to do the right thing by his community. I’ve never denied this community. I’ve been a part of it for a long time now, and I hope to remain a good member in standing for a long time to come.”

Thomas Roberts To Host ‘Miss Universe’ In Russia, Despite Anti-Gay Policies

Thomas Roberts MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts has been tapped to co-host the “Miss Universe” pageant for NBC next month, alongside “Spice Girl” Mel B.

Roberts will be stepping in for Bravo’s Andy Cohen, who dropped out because the pageant is being held in Russia, which recently passed anti-gay legislation. Roberts is also gay, and explains on msnbc.com why he decided to take on the challenge.

So people may wonder: “Thomas, how can you accept this assignment? Shouldn’t you boycott Russia?” I am not going to boycott. Boycotting and vilifying from the outside is too easy. Rather, I choose to offer my support of the LGBT community in Russia by going to Moscow and hosting this event as a journalist, an anchor and a man who happens to be gay. Let people see I am no different than anyone else.

All kids—Russian, American or otherwise—need hope. I am a happy, healthy, gainfully employed, educated and married man. And yes, I am gay. These new Russian laws won’t stop Russians from being born LGBT and growing up to identify as such. Russia’s treatment of its LGBT citizens is unacceptable, unrealistic and only promotes homophobia and intolerance for a community that does and will continue to exist.

Robin Roberts Named to Us Weekly’s Stylish New Yorkers List

Us Weekly has named “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts one of New York’s most stylish people.

“Working on a morning show, we inspire what a lot of women will wear that day. While Diane Sawyer just rolls out of bed looking stylish, I’m no different than any other woman who has no idea what to wear, so thank God for my stylist Diandre Tristan!” Roberts said. “I know the DVF and Chiara Boni dresses in my closet that will always look fabulous on me, but he can pick things out that may look terrible on a hanger but look great on air.”

Also on the 2013 edition of the annual list: Bravo’s Andy Cohen, “Live!” co-host Michael Strahan (who says his favorite clothing item is the jersey he wore when the Giants beat the Patriots in the 2007 Superbowl) and newly-minted “The View” co-host Jenny McCarthy.

Maddow, Cooper on Out‘s Annual Power List

Out Magazine has published its seventh annual “50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America” list. Apple CEO Tim Cook tops the list for the second year running, but television news is well-represented in the top five, with syndicated talk show host Ellen DeGeneres at #2, MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow at #4 and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper at #5.

Maddow and Cooper both move up a spot from last year’s list. CNBC’s Suze Orman and Bravo’s Andy Cohen are also on the list for the second year running, at #28 and #14 respectively.

Today In CNN News

Following the bombshell day on Tuesday, more rumors, news and opinions continue to trickle in regarding CNN.

FishbowlDC reports that the network will be pruning more political contributors from its lineup, naming Roland Martin and Donna Brazile as likely candidates:

Should the calls come down, Brazile likely wouldn’t be too shell-shocked. She’s already got a sweet gig with ABC. Martin, on the other hand, has his “Washington Watch” program on TV One and is a senior analyst for the Tom Joyner radio show.

Deadline reports that CNN has acquired a new weekend series from Ridley Scott called “Crimes of the Century.” The series will examine major news events using cinematic style:

Al Roker Drops by ‘Katie’ For Surprise Birthday Celebration

Today is Katie Couric‘s birthday, and she showed up to work with no idea what was in store for her on “Katie.” Couric didn’t know who her would be on the show — the lineup included Betty White, J.R. Martinez and former “Today” show pal Al Roker — until they appeared on stage. Bravo’s Andy Cohen acted as the show’s co-host, jokingly calling it “Watch What Happens Live to Katie.”

Roker, who arrived on the set hiding his face behind an umbrella, brought along an old clip of Couric singing backup for Stevie Wonder on the “Today” show alongside Matt Lauer. “This was awful. I thought we burned this tape!” Couric said.

Happy Holidays! Here’s ‘Dateline’ Correspondent Keith Morrison Reading ‘The Night Before Christmas’

Tonight NBC’s primetime newsmagazine “Dateline” is having a “Holiday Survival” special. The special will give gifting advice, office party etiquette and holiday tips from people like Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford and Bravo’s Andy Cohen. Lester Holt will also interview actor/comedian Nick Cannon.

Update: The special has been postponed due to the shooting in Connecticut.

To help promote the special, the folks at “Dateline” had correspondent Keith Morrision, with his inimitable voice, read Clement Clarke Moore‘s classic A Visit From St. Nicholas, known colloquially as The Night Before Christmas.

Anderson Rips Star: ‘For her to emerge out of the shadows and attack me for this, I couldn’t believe it’

CNN’s Anderson Cooper, on his syndicated show today, ripped Star Jones after Jones said on the “Today” show that Cooper’s public coming out this summer was a ratings ploy.

A fired up Cooper, with guest host Bravo’s Andy Cohen said, “I haven’t thought about Star Jones in I don’t know how long. I was unaware she was on TV still.”

“As memory serves, in terms of boosting ratings, I seem to recall [Star] hocking her wedding every single day to get free products when she was on ‘The View’ and I seem to recall her lying about her gastric bypass surgery and making everybody else lie about it as well. So for her to suddenly emerge out of the shadows and suddenly attack me for this, I couldn’t believe it.”
