Bird Poops On Becky Quick Right Before Big Buffett Interview

Ah, the perils of live TV. Just seconds before CNBC’s Becky Quick began interviewing billionaire Warren Buffett, a bird decided to go rogue.

“We are in a big hanger, there are a lot of birds,” Quick old her colleagues afterwards. “One pooped on my head 10 seconds before we came back to air!”

Elsewhere, an “Entertainment Tonight” interview with Jennifer Lopez was apparently interrupted by gunshots. The new York Post has more.

Yahoo! Expands Content Deal With ABC News, CNBC At ‘NewFront’

Last night Yahoo! held its “NewFront” event at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, and the digital media company announced expanded content deals with its two big TV news partners, ABC News and CNBC.

ABC, of course, has a major deal with the company, particularly with “Good Morning America,” which has a digital presence powered by Yahoo!

“One of the big secrets to the success of Good Morning America is goodmorningamerica.com, powered by Yahoo!” said ABC News president Ben Sherwood on stage at the event.

Now, ABC is bringing what Sherwood called the “secret sauce” from its Yahoo! agreement to “ABC World News” and “Nightline.”

2013 TVNewser Bracket Challenge Update

“First Thursday,” the big kick-off for March Madness, is over, and with it the 2013 TVNewser March Madness bracket challenge really gets started.

This early in the game everyone is really close, but a few people have separated themselves from the pack.

CNBC’s Brian Schactman leads the way, with his colleague Joe Kernen and CNN’s Brooke Baldwin right behind him. Right now Lisa Sylvester, Wolf Blitzer, Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell are at the bottom of the pack, but there is plenty of time for a comeback.

TVNewser’s 2013 March Madness Bracket Challenge

Spring is here (even though it may not feel like it where you are) and with it comes the sweet sound of sneakers on hardwood: the NCAA March Madness college basketball tournament.

Every year we have some of the best and brightest from the world of TV news come together in one competition to see who is tops at picking winners and losers.

Ultimately there can be only one winner, and they get the chance to brag about their picking prowess for all to see. 2012′s winner was Fox Business Network stocks editor Liz MacDonald. Liz wont be participating this year, but 2011′s winner Dominic Chu is back to try and reclaim the title.

The NBC Ticker: Cliff, ‘Meet,’ Logo

CNBC is dedicating its programming today to coverage of the fiscal cliff from Washington, D.C. as part of its “Rise Above” campaign. Just about every program will originate from DC. Jim Cramer and Becky Quick will report from Congress, while Maria Bartiromo will anchor from the White House.

NBC Publishing is releasing an “enhanced e-book” that looks at 65 years of “Meet the Press.” Author Terry Golway looks at the history of the program, as well as its hosts and notable guests. The e-book also includes a substantial amount of video and audio content from throughout the program’s run.

NBCUniversal parent company Comcast is getting a new logo, and it features the very-familiar NBC peacock. Take a look after the jump.

Quintanilla, Quick to Anchor CNBC Debate Coverage

CNBC’s Vice Presidential debate coverage kicks off tonight at 7pmET with Larry Kudlow‘s “The Kudlow Report.” Becky Quick and Carl Quintanilla take over from 8pm to 11pmET with live pre- and post-debate analysis.

Quick and Quintanilla will anchor will be joined by Jim Cramer in the studio and CNBC Washington correspondent John Harwood, who will be live from the debate site in Kentucky.

Berkshire Hathaway And Warren Buffett On The Business Channels

This weekend is Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholders meeting, and the business networks have coverage planned for the company, led by billionaire Warren Buffett.

Becky Quick will be in Omaha for CNBC, running through the weekend. FBN’s Liz Claman will be reporting from outside the meeting this weekend, and gives tips to attendees here.

Of course Buffett will also be giving interviews, both FBN and CNBC are claiming “exclusives.”

Buffett will be appearing first on CNBC Monday morning, where he will be a guest on “Squawk Box” for all three hours of the program from 6-9 AM. At 9:30 AM, Buffett will be appearing in a joint interview with Microsoft founder Bill Gates on FBN.

With Kentucky’s 67-59 win over Kansas last night, March Madness has officially come to an end. That also means that it is time to declare a winner in TVNewser’s 2012 March Madness bracket challenge.

Your 2012 TVNewser bracket challenge winner is…

Fox Business Network stocks editor Liz MacDonald!

“It was great fun going up against really tough competition,” MacDonald says. “I am honored and thrilled to be this year’s champion.”

It was a close match this year, with CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux and Kyra Phillips very close behind MacDonald in the standings. This is the second straight year that a competitor for one of the business news networks won. Last year’s winner was Bloomberg TV’s Dominic Chu. Chu also had a good showing this year, placing ninth.

In last place, tragically, was your humble TVNewser editor, who clearly needs to reevaluate his college basketball picking skills. My strategy of picking teams who had cool mascots (Blue Devils? Awesome!) may not have been the most sound.

During the handoff from “Squawk Box” to “Squawk on the Street” this morning, CNBCers Joe Kernen, Becky Quick, Andrew Ross Sorkin, Carl Quintanilla and Melissa Lee were chatting about the new CNBC set at the New York Stock Exchange, which Alex got a look at Wednesday. And it was that story which gave Kernen his first look at the set:

Quintanilla: Have you been down here yet to see it in person?
Kernen: No. I saw it on TVNewser.
Lee: Your source for news about CNBC is TVNewser?
Kernen: That’s where I saw it. I’m too honest.

Perhaps Becky Quick‘s nickname should be the “Business Whisperer”? And do we know what she did last summer?

What TVNewser is hinting at - ever so cleverly - is that it struck us just the other day: Quick bears a striking resemblance to actress Jennifer Love Hewitt. From their hair to the shape of their faces, well, we’re just sayin’.

Quick, by the way, has been back on the airwaves now since November after taking maternity leave for the birth of her baby boy in August.

After a week of Wall Street gyrations a Quick delivery. CNBC’s “Squawk Box” co-host Becky Quick delivered a baby boy Sunday.

This morning on the show Joe Kernen announced:

Breaking news. Do we have a drum roll? Bouncing baby boy, blond hair. Kyle Nathaniel Quayle and for short, Kye as in pie.

Kye comes in at 6 lbs., 15 oz. And this business of family revolves around CNBC. Quick is married to Matt Quayle — an 18 year CNBC vet — who is the executive producer of “Squawk Box.”

Andrew Ross Sorkin Joins CNBC as Co-Anchor of ‘Squawk Box’

First on TVNewser: CNBC has hired New York Times scribe and DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin to be the new co-anchor of the signature morning program “Squawk Box,” TVNewser has learned.

Sorkin, who has been a contributor on CNBC, will join Becky Quick and Joe Kernen on the show Monday. This past Monday, Carl Quintanilla moved off the three-hour “Squawk Box” to co-anchor the 9amET show “Squawk on the Street.”

CNBC Previews the New ‘Squawk on the Street’

On CNBC’s “Squawk Box” this morning, Joe Kernen and Becky Quick spoke to the new anchors of “Squawk on the Street,” Melissa Lee and Carl Quintanilla, as well as contributors David Faber and Jim Cramer.

“We just hope to leverage and carry on what [Mark Haines and Erin Burnett] built on the 9 at ‘Squawk on the Street,’” Quintanilla said.
