Former CNN and MSNBC anchor Rick Sanchez is joining MundoFox, the new Spanish-language network from News Corp. Sanchez has been an English-language contributor to FoxNewsLatino.com since September.

Fox News correspondent Adam Housley and his wife, actresss Tamera Mowry-Housley welcomed baby Aden John Tanner Housley into the world last night. “After 24 hours of labor,” Housley writes, “Mom and the kid are resting well and dad is writing the e-mail.”

Broadcasting & Cable EIC Ben Grossman is joining Twitter where he will be Head of Global Operations for Twitter Media.”I will now look forward to becoming a reader of B&C’s magazine every week and digital products every day,” Grossman writes in a goodbye email. Executive editor Melissa Grego is the new EIC.

This week’s “Broadcasting & Cable” (subscription required) identifies 12 Names to Know in 2011 in the industry.

“Some of these execs and companies you may know,” the article states. “Some you don’t. But before 2011 is over, we’re betting you’ll know much more about them.”

Among the twelve is Megyn Kelly, the only tvnewser listed.

“It doesn’t matter what your politics are,” Ben Grossman writes, “there’s no debating Megyn Kelly is a star…

“While she hasn’t reached the single-name status of fellow FNC stars O’Reilly, Beck or Hannity, she has garnered plenty of attention…

“So if Fox News ever ends up looking to make a move later in the day on its schedule, there’s a good chance its next high profile star is already working in the building.”

Charles Barkley Calls Fox News “Corrupt,” Fox News Fires Back

In an interview with Broadcasting & Cable, former NBA star and current TNT basketball analyst Charles Barkley calls Fox News Channel “corrupt.”

“I watch CNN, they’re not fucked up like Fox,” Barkley tells Ben Grossman. “They are a mouthpiece for the Republican Party. I watch [Fox] a couple times when there is someone I want to see on there. But they’re corrupt.”

When Grossman asked Barkley if he’s just shilling for Turner (corporate parent of CNN and TNT), Barkley says, “Hell no. I like Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper and John King. They at least try to give both sides.”

A Fox News spokesperson fired back: “It’s hardly a surprise that Charles is a shill for a Turner owned network…He obviously needs the steady paycheck to pay off his consistent gambling debts.”

Don’t Say Goodnight to Nightline, Just Yet

B&C’s Ben Grossman says all the talk about the uncertain future of Nightline gives ABC News time to plan. The talk centers around Jay Leno who could end up at ABC. There is also talk that Leno could be presented a deal that would keep him at NBC while forcing out Conan O’Brien, making him available to ABC. Still, Grossman argues, keep the Nightline brand.

Yes, the 11:35 pm weeknight version of the show will probably be gone by the end of next year, even if NBC decides not to jettison Leno and ABC ends up with Conan O’Brien. But the Nightline brand has equity, and in a cluttered marketplace in which broadcast networks are scrambling for footholds, there is little more valuable than a known commodity. ABC needs to find a way to keep the brand intact, whether it means moving it to another time slot, a series of primetime specials, a major online presence or all of the above. And it should start prepping now.
